WHAT IS BOTELL MADE OUT OF ?
Botell is made from premium grade, BPA free polymer which also acts an an insulator keeping your water cooler for longer. Botell holds 420mls. The Botell team researched this and have come up with an amount that is not too heavy to carry by hand or in your bag.
IS IT MADE FROM GLASS OR PLASTIC?
Owing to its design requirements, Botell is made from a BPA free, engineering grade Polymer. It has the look of glass without the hassle and is virtually unbreakable it is also a thermoplastic, which retains the water temperature longer than the normal water bottles.
MY BOTELL IS SHOWING 0% PROGRESS?
Occasionally, your Botell may not talk to your phone and upload the drinks. However, it will store them.
So, if you go to your app > settings > connection > connect to a different Botell, all the data stored in your module would be uploaded.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY BOTELL MEASUREMENTS FROM ONCES TO MILLILITRES?
Botell app supports different units based on the language set up on the phone. So, if you go to ‘Settings > General > Language & Region’ on your phone and set Australia as a region, you will get your drinks in ml.
MY BOTELL HAS STOPPED SYNCING OR RECORDING DRINK EVENTS HOW DO I FIX IT?
Sometimes your Botell may not speak to your phone, but it will record and store your drinks. To upload the stored data:
- Go to your App > Settings > Connection > Connect to a different Botell, all the data stored in your module should be uploaded
- Check your Location Services – Botell needs them on and set at always to sync with your phone.

HOW DO REMINDERS WORK ON MY BOTELL?
The flashing reminders and mobile notifications do not occur simultaneously. The way the reminders work on your Botell, for example, should you have set them up for every 30 mins, you will receive a reminder on your phone every 30 mins and if you don’t drink after the phone reminder, you will then receive a glow reminder after few minutes of the phone reminder. However, if you drink frequently, say you have had a drink before 30 mins reminder, it will readjust the reminder to 30 mins from when you had the drink. Hence, if you are a frequent drinker, you might not even see the reminders as they will keep on readjusting.
HOW EASY IS IT TO USE?
Once the Bluetooth device is paired with your phone, just start drinking and the partnership between the smartphone and the Botell will assist you with your hydration habits. A lot of effort went into the design of the mouthpiece. When the spout is raised you’ll notice the intricate shape. It fits comfortably to your lips and enhances the enjoyment of drinking from your Botell. It also aids with the measuring of your water consumption. It’s important that the spout is kept level so the Botell can calculate angles. Try not to drink with the mouthpiece rolled left or right.The top of the mouthpiece should be straight when drinking.The device will tolerate some rolling of the mouthpiece but if the angle is extreme it will affect accuracy of measuring water consumption
WHAT IS CALIBRATION?
We realised one of the deficiencies of measuring water consumption is the constant calibration required by the Bluetooth device. Botell is very clever as it measures angles, acceleration, time spent drinking and it also learns how you drink. Research indicated that other devices on the market were not acceptable to users ( they did not measure water correctly ) which led us to a design that never needs to be calibrated. Users wanted a guide as to how much they were drinking not a medical device. If you require 100% accuracy of water consumption for any reason then this product is not for you. It does however have a 85 -95% accuracy rate.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE BLUETOOTH MEASURING DEVICE?
The Botell will, in most circumstances measure water consumption to an accuracy between 85-95 % over a range of drink events and bottles consumed. The calculation is immediate and the only time lag for the information to be supplied to you is the time it takes to connect to your phone via Bluetooth technology. This will vary from one drink event to another. You do not have to put the bottle down and wait for it to re calibrate or to weigh the contents.
HOW DOES BOTELL MEASURE WATER?
The Botell measures the angle at the start of the drink event and the angle at the finish of the drink event. Subtracts the two values and the difference is the volume of water you have consumed. One of the limitations of this method is the speed at which the Botell is brought up to your lips and the speed at which it is brought down after you have finished drinking. The Botell also measures speed and time spent drinking to further refine the measurement.
HOW DO I IMPROVE MY ACCURACY?
To improve the accuracy of your measurements, fill your Botell so the pins are covered. Tilt the bottle up and down smoothly when you are going to drink to avoid splashing which can affect calculations. When using your bottle bring the bottle up to your mouth as if it were a glass of water. This will be a smooth motion. Do not walk when drinking and try not to slam the Botell up to your mouth to get water quickly. If the drink event is incorrect due to splashing the Botell will self-correct over the next few drink events. Drink the contents of the bottle until completely empty. This will give accuracy of 98 – 99%.
WHAT IF MY SMARTPHONE IS OUT OF RANGE?
If your phone is not within Bluetooth range that’s ok.The Botell stores a small number of drink events and once the phone is back in range, the next drink event will transfer the data after the connection has been established through Bluetooth. If the Botell is out of range for over a day then some drink events may be lost.
CAN I FILL BOTELL WITH OTHER LIQUIDS LIKE TEA OR CORDIAL? CAN I KEEP BOTELL IN THE FRIDGE?
Your Botell can go into the fridge. It is made for water only as the hygiene pro spout is handmade using special seals, so cordial or tea will affect these. Only use fresh water in your Botell.
